Distribution: Found from the middle of the Mississippi and Atlantic drainages south and west ward through the estuaries of the Gulf of Mexico to Guatemala and Belize.
Habitat: Prefers large impoundments and rivers, an open water schooler.
Spawning Period: Has an extended spawning period through the spring to fall.
Spawning Habitat: Free spawner of open water.
Important Notes: Threadfin are sexually mature in less than one year, schools are usually fish of the same age. Threadfin Shad die-offs occur when water temperatures fall below 41 degrees.
