Distribution: Found in the southern Lake Erie drainage, in the Mississippi
Valley from southern Minnesota south the Gulf Coast. On the Coastal Plain it
is found from the Neuces drainage of Texas to the Edisto drainage of South
Carolina.
Habitat: A lowland minnow that prefers the vegetated pools and backwaters of
streams and rivers.
Spawning Period: Late Spring to early Summer.
Spawning Habitat: The eggs are deposited on the underside of a flat object.
Important Notes: A mid to surface water feeder.
