Distribution: Found throughout United States and Canada from the eastern
slope of the Rocky Mountains to the Atlantic coast. However the Creek Chub
avoids the lowland area of all coastal plains within this range.
Habitat: Prefers the pools of small streams to large rivers.
Spawning Period: April through May.
Spawning Habitat: Small, very shallow nests with a pile of stones upstream.
Important Notes: The Creek Chub avoids strong currents. It also does not
like competition from other species.
