Tying Notes: None
Distribution: Found only in the upland tributaries of the Black River of the
Ozarks in north central Arkansas and south central Missouri. Within this
area it is often the most dominate and abundant specie of minnow.
Habitat: Small to large, clear steams and rivers with gravel to bedrock
bottoms, pools with current and below swift riffles.
Spawning Period: Spawns from late April to late June.
Spawning Habitat: Over grave riffles or nests of Hornyhead Chubs or
Stonerollers.
Important Notes: Replaces the Duskystripe Shiner in the upland Ozarkian
Black River system.
